This Saturday, October 30, 2021 we will be participating in the county-wide bake sale fundraiser for the House of Sophrosyne!!!
Stay tuned for their announcement this week, with a list of other participating bakeries across the county - but we're one of them! (so come see us Saturday if you need gf, dairy-free, or naturally sweetened goodies). Each bakery will be donating a portion of their sales that day. Instead of picking a special item, we've decided to donate $5 from EVERY sale over $10 that day. So come out, buy some goodies, and we'll donate. If you would like to directly contribute, we'll have a collection jar too.
Here's a little history about them:
The House of Sophrosyne is a non-profit organization, founded in 1978 in Windsor-Essex. They provide programs, and community & residential programs to help women struggling with substance misabuse, taking them in for 5 weeks at a time.
It is named after the Greek goddess Sophrosyne. She was the goddess of discretion, temperance, and moderation. So it's quite fitting that their philosophy is to empower women’s lives with wisdom and balance.
When Covid-19 hit in March 2020, they quickly retrained their staff to make sure they could continue providing their services, and have been able to help more than 1700 individuals across the province.
