🍌💫 Banana mash hack
Next time you make a recipe that calls for mashed bananas… Give this cutting board hack a try! Instead of chasing bananas around in a bowl trying to mash them, line them up on a cutting board, then mash them with some forks!! I don’t know where I first saw this (I cannot take credit for inventing it), but I haven’t looked back since I tried it (unless there isn’t an appropriate flat surface to mash on 😅🤣). UPDATE: Still struggling
UPDATE: It's been a few months, and I am still struggling with the aftermath of all my social accounts being hacked. The worst is that my bakery Facebook page was permanently locked & is still up. So you can message that account, but you will get no response & I cannot post an update. I created a new account when this first happened after it was evident that I would not get my account back, but the new one doesn’t show in Facebook even if you search for it, so no-one is getti

I finally got myself a freezer dryer
- it’s been on my wish list for a while now, to make my own freeze dried fruit for the bakery. BUT it comes with other fun benefits!! If you have food restrictions like me, you’ve probably been left out of the fun freeze dried candy trend. Until NOW. I freeze dried some Dandies marshmallows (which may be my favourite thing we’ve run in the machine so far!!) they turn out addictively crunchy & so good. 🔥🍢 This s’more hack is genius!
We were at my brother’s cottage this past weekend, making campfire s’mores, so we HAD TO try out Nick DiGiovanni new s’more technique to melt your chocolate at the same time as toasting your marshmallow - spoiler alert, it’s a game changer!! And totoally genius!! (Just kinda sucked that my expensive gluten-free graham crackers all broke in the process or were broken to start, lol. 😭 But the “regular” ones saved the day! 🙌🏻🎉) It worked so well, you gotta try this next time

Drink lemon water? Try this! 💦🍋
Use the WHOLE lemon for added limonene!! 💦🍋 Lots of people already drink lemon water for digestion, etc, but this is next level. Our Bakery Reno in 2020
Can you believe Mindful BakeHouse has been around for more than 5 years now? AND we are quickly approaching the 5 year anniversary of our LaSalle storefront!! At this point 5 years ago, we had signed the lease & got the keys, and we’re just starting gutting it. It would take us until Feb 02, 2021 (yay, our opening day!!) to get all the work done, equipment ordered & installed and inspections complete. GF Oreo blind taste test! Can we tell them apart?!
I was trying to find the new gf Chips Ahoy choc chip cookies, and stumbled on these instead. Did you know Nabisco made gluten-free oreos?!?! I didn't. But they are stocked with all the regular oreos, so I don't normally check that aisle. Have I been living in a hole, and missing out??!? Anywho, we grabbed some. I went to Walmart to buy a chocolate bar to melt in the sun & dip strawberries in with the kids and I was surprised to find quite a few new plant based chocolate bars. So I ended up grabbing one of each for us to taste test & review at home! Some use almond paste instead of milk ingredients, some use oat and rice. Dairy-Free Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream plus Mix-ins | No pudding mix | Vanilla is vegan!
I couldn't find a Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipe that I could actually eat (they all have pudding mix, whey protein, or fair life milk!), so we came up with our own & they were delicious!! So here's our new basic vanilla protein ice cream recipe, and a slightly more complicated (just extra ingredients) chocolate recipe that you can change up (add strawberries, etc) or add fun mix-ins like cookie dough.
