Veganuary - Tasty Tofu

Anyone trying new plant-based meals for Veganuary? I tried Nisha’s (Rainbow Plant Life) tofu technique the other night for dinner and it was soooooo good!!
I didn’t have all the ingredients to make her shawarma bowl (I have to remake it with all the components!!), so I served it with yellow pea protein pasta, some edamame, and Siete brand taco spice.
You can find her video/recipe here:
But here's a quick jist:
She calls for super firm or extra firm tofu, and I could only find firm, so I pressit for a few hours, and drained off the liquid, then sliced it as thin as possible. You can also use a cheese knife or the slicing side of a box grater (I think both would work best if you manage to get the firmer tofu)
I put pieces into a bowl and added soy sauce/coconut aminos
Then I spread the pieces on the dirty cutting board (from when I cut the tofu) and dusted both side with arrowroot powder. She recommends using a fine mesh strainer to dust them, like you would dust tiramisu with cocoa powder.
Preheat skillet to medium-high, add olive oil, and add pieces. Half batch will fit nicely in the pan.
Cook 5’ish minutes, then flip and cook another 3’ish minutes
Add spice here. She did shwarma spice and made it into a shwarma bowl. I added Siete brand taco spice, flipped and sprinkled more. Then served with some high protein yellow pea pasta that I bowled with some shelled edamame. Delicious!
