5-ingredient Healthier Almond Joy Candy Bars 🥥🍫

Did you know how easy it is to make homemade Bounty/Almond Joy candy bars at home? But also healthier & vegan? It takes just 4-5 ingredients and a few minutes (minus the freeze time).
I was planning to do a homemade/better-than-store-bought series with chocolate bars, & was shocked at how sad Almond Joys are these days. Most “chocolate” bars can no longer be legally called chocolate due to their cheap ingredients, and look at that sad almond…
So let’s make our own with simple ingredients, and your chocolate of choice.
I’m using a df/v dark chocolate we made using whole organic cocao beans (that we roasted, cracked, winnowed, and conched ourselves - I kid you not - my kids had seen Nick Digiovanni’s bean-to-bar chocolate videos & wanted to try too, but the whole dried beans was the closest to a cocao pod I could find).
For the filling you simple combine shredded coconut, coconut milk, and some maple syrup then press into an 8x8 pan or some cute silicon molds, then freeze until solid its easy to slice & dip. Once you’ve dipped them, store them in the fridge to thaw the centres.
Then dig in & enjoy!! These actually taste like chocolate & coconut (and no weird/cheap ingredients). Such a treat!
Ingredients:
-2 cups (175g) unsweetened shredded/desiccated coconut
-1/4 cup maple syrup
-3/4 cup full fat coconut milk
-pinch sea salt
-250g vegan/dark chocolate
Instructions:
Combine coconut, syrup, coconut milk & salt, and press into lined 8x8 pan or shaped silicon molds
Pressed whole almonds on top for Almond Joy, or leave off for Bounty
Freeze 30 minutes
If using a pan, remove from pan & slice into 36 squares or pop out of molds.
Dip in melted dark chocolate
Chill to set chocolate
Dig in & enjoy!!
Store in fridge
