3-Ingredient Chia Bread?

My 3 ingredient flax bread has become a staple around here. And you asked if it can be done with ground flax versus whole flax, and golden versus brown, or even swapping chia??!? I have done all variations of flax with success, so let’s try chia!




3-Ingredient Flax Bread version 2.0


INGREDIENTS

250g flax/ground flax (golden or brown) or chia seeds!

40g ground psyllium husk/psyllium husk powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/3 cups hot water (tap hot, not boiling)


INSTRUCTIONS

► Add seeds to a high speed blender & blend until fine (yes, I do re-blend my pre-ground flax as sometimes it has whole seeds)

► Transfer to a mixing bowl, add psyllium & baking powder & mix until combined

► Add hot water and mix until it comes together into a dough - as the psyllium

hydrates it will turn from wet gooey batter to a handleable dough (I like to use my

stand mixer with paddle attachment - then it’s no knead & easier clean up - psyllium can leave a slimy mess on your counter & hands to scrub off)

► Shape into an oval shape, and place on a parchment lined tray

► If you like, at this point you can brush the loaf with water, or rub the top with wet hands, then sprinkle with desired seeds.

► Bake at 355F for 60 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely

► Slice & enjoy!!

► It is great as is, or toast it. I like to pre-slice the entire loaf and freeze the slices for easy thawing/toasting, but it can also be stored in an airtight container for several days.      


*NOTES:

► This works with brown flax, golden flax and even chia seeds though the seed will change the flavour. Golden is a lighter flavour, while brown flax is deeper/earthier.

► I have adjusted ingredient amounts a little since my last recipe video. I find the tweaks, plus using “tap hot” water instead of boiling water lends to the best, most reliable results. Since updating it, I am less likely to get a random loaf with a huge air bubble at the top & a dense base.
