This is where I post all the fun gluten-free dairy-free things I've been testing/making that aren't official BakeHouse recipes. Most of which we also share on our YouTube Channel, as well as our second instagram account, & TikTok. Do black beans make a good gluten-free cake?
I’m testing out a 1/4 batch of Pancake Princess’ famous “Flourless Black Bean Chocolate Cake (gluten-free!)” for my birthday in a few weeks. I’m looking for something on the healthier side, but also easy to make - no special equipment since we’ll be celebrating with a friend of mine, that doesn’t have a ton of baking stuff. So this recipe could be perfect!! You can swap the granulated sugar for your sweetener/sugar-free-sub of choice (I’m using monk-allulose for my test batch

ACCIDENTAL Chocolate Cake Cookies | No Flour
I was trying to adapt a recipe to make gf/df/sf fudgey crinkle top brownie cookies, but ended up with these fluffy whoopy-pie-vibe chocolate cake cookies, and I’m not mad about it. Enjoy as is, or make them “EXTRA” by adding a scoop of your fav ice cream to turn them into chocolate whoopy-pie ice cream sandwiches!! Perfect pairing of rich chocolatey cookies & creamy ice cream.... So good!! INGREDIENTS: -1 egg separated -50g sugar/sugar substitute (I used monk-allulose blend f

🤍Fluffy Homemade Marshmallows | Sugar-Free/RSF
Homemade marshmallows are so much softer & fluffier than store bought, plus they only use a few simple ingredients (AND you choose the sweetener!! See notes below for swaps). After you’ve make them once, you’ll never go back… Watch our video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/1IKSjUEdWxU?feature=share INGREDIENTS: ►1/2 cup cold water (it needs to be cool/cold to bloom your gelatin) ►3 tbsp gelatin ►1/2 cup water (water temp doesn’t matter here) ►1 cup granulated sweetener of ch

Watch our full step-by-step video here: https://youtu.be/b6EDCvAvWdU And watch to the end to see how to sub out all or some lentils for quinoa!! INGREDIENTS •1 cup red lentils (soaked in water f

Crispy, crunchy, roasted lentils 😍🥗 #Saladtopper #glutenfreecroutons
I’m sure you’ve seen crunchy, roasted chickpeas before. But this is a fun twist. Plus, they’re extra crunchy and give you more protein & less carbs (net and total), and more fiber per serving than chickpeas (or croutons!) And bonus: they’re also faster to cook from scratch; giving you a healthy, gluten-free alternative to a crouton on your salads this summer (or frankly to any dish you’d like to add some texture, crunch and/or extra protein too) INGREDIENTS: ► 3/4-1 cup dried

🍫🫐 Day 29 of Healthy Summer Treats | Blueberry Chocolate Bark
The viral combo of chocolate & blueberries, but easier than individually dipping each blueberry!! All you need is: 🫐 Fresh blueberries 🍫 Melted dark chocolate If you have a chocolate bar mold you can drizzle in some melted chocolate, then add your blueberries, and top with more chocolate, making sure each berry gets some chocolate so it holds together into bark. OR you can simply toss the berries with the chocolate, then spread in single layer on parchment. Pop in the fridg

🍫🫐 Day 20 of Healthy Summer Treats | Dark Choc Blueberries
Another fun summer-must-try! If you haven’t tried making the viral chocolate dipped blueberries from TikTok yet, you should. They may seem a bit tedious until you get the hang of dipping with a toothpick (especially if you decide to reuse the same toothpick like me!) but I got in “the zone” after the first couple and they’re super cute & delicious too. 🍫 TIP: Make sure to pick a chocolate you enjoy , since it’s just blueberries & your chocolate of choice. I dipped them and p

🥥🍓🫐🥝 Day 18 of Healthy Summer Treats | Coconut Water Fruit Popsicles #SummerOnShorts
These are so great for summer because: ⭐️ They freeze SUPER solid, and melt slow (so less of a drippy mess for kids), ⭐️⭐️ They’re more refreshing than sweet, full of electrolytes, and have no added sugars/sweeteners. We’re really just using coconut water to “glue” fruit together frozen. You’ll Need: ► Fresh or frozen fruit (you can use one kind, or go crazy with different fruits/colour combos. I used fresh strawberries, blackberries, mandarin oranges, kiwi, and frozen wild b

🍇🧪Day 16 of Healthy Summer Treats: TikTok Grapes with a Twist #SummerOnShorts
Today we’re making the viral frozen sour patch grapes from TikTok, but with a better-for-you twist!! After adding your lime juice, instead of sugar or Jello mix, we sprinkled our green grapes with lemonade electrolyte powder, then freeze & enjoy!! Super refreshing & perfect for replacing electrolytes on hot summer days. NOTE: I found the grapes were still a bit wet/sticky after freezing so you could totally add ANOTHER coat of electrolytes after freezing for an extra boost, b

Day 12 of Healthy Summer Treats: Mandarin Orange Sorbet 🍊| #SummerOnShorts
Turn frozen mandarin oranges into a super delicious & refreshing summer treat!! You make this 1-ingredient orange ice cream/sorbet in a blender or a food processor. Simply peel and separate your mandarin range segments and freeze on a tray or cutting board. Then blend/process until smooth. It may take some stamping in your blender or stopping & scraping the sides of your food processor, but stick with it - it’s totally worth it!! You get the creamiest, super-concentrated-oran

Day 7 of Healthy Summer Treats: 🍋🍨 3-Ingredient Lemon Ice Cream #summeronshorts
INGREDIENTS: - Zest & juice of 2 lemons* - 1 can full fat coconut cream - 1/2 cup sweetener of choice (I used organic honey) NOTES: *I did try the “whole lemon” way first, but I found it too bitter and did not enjoy it. So I remade it using the zest & juice, and it was SOOOOO delicious and refreshing. This will definitely be on repeat this summer. This is fairly heavy on honey but makes for a nice soft texture. You can swap the sweetener or adjust it lower too if you want it

Day 3 of Healthy Summer Treats: 🍉Watermelon Shaved Ice #SummerOnShorts
This one ingredient shave ice hack seemed so simple I almost didn’t want to include it in our healthy summer treat series BUT our watermelon’s texture was sub-par (and a bit mealy), so my kids did NOT want to eat it. And freezing it, and shaving it with a microplane, totally transformed and saved this melon. Don’t have a microplane? Or even if you do… I also tested this with my grater setting in our food processor and it worked like a charm, and was definitely a time saver to

Crispy Cauliflower Bites
I was cravings cauliflower bites after trying a box of store bought ones recently, and really, they aren’t that hard to make at home - pretty fun actually. Plus, for the same cost, you end up with SOOO MANY more. Here’s what you need: -1 head cauliflower, cut into bite sized pieces (I used half a bag of cauliflower florets from Costco and cut the really big florets into smaller bite-sized pieces) BATTER -1 cup gluten-free flour (I used 1/3c millet, 1/3c sorghum, and 1/3c cass
